How to Optimize a PDF for the Web

Learn how to optimize a PDF for the web.

The first step in this process is to determine whether the PDF needs to be optimized. Your PDF only needs to be optimized if it is larger than 1 MG (1,000 KB).

To optimize a PDF (I’m using Adobe Acrobat Professional, version 10.1.8):

  1. open Adobe Acrobat Professional
  2. open the PDF from where you have it stored on your computer
  3. save the PDF using Save As and choose to save as an optimized PDF
  4. make sure your settings match the image below, and then click OK

The optimized PDF is now ready to be uploaded to the CMS.
