Box at Penn State offers secure, scalable and user-friendly content sharing. Box allows content to be stored online, so it can be accessed, managed and shared from anywhere. Access Box on mobile devices or seamlessly sync files to your laptop or desktop computer. This is a secure cloud storage that has been vetted through the security and risk management offices at Penn State. Although Box should not be used for storing highly restricted data such as SSNs, etc., it offers enterprise level security that is suitable for most files, including FERPA protected data.
Some benefits to using Box over other cloud based solutions such as dropbox include encryption capabilities, single sign on using your Penn State credentials and unlimited storage space. There is a box client for your computer to allow for seamless read/write access as well as apps for your iPad, iPhone, Android and blackberry devices, etc. Because Box.com has met the requirements of University data storage, a number of universities are now using box.com. Collaborating with folks within and outside the University is very simple and there is a cost savings available to the College as Box is available to you at no additional charge vs paid for accounts with dropbox and other cloud based storage solutions.
Box at Penn State signup is easy. Simply visit https://psu.app.box.com/login and use your Penn State credentials to setup your account.
