How to Upload a File to the CMS
Learn how to add PDFs, PPTs, DOCXs, and other file types to the CMS.
Once you are logged into the CMS and in your section of the web site, click the Contents button. If you don't see the Contents tab you can go to your section's homepage, click the Contents button, then browse through the folders to get to where you want to add the file. Oftentimes, and recommended, files are stored in a Documents folder.
- When you are in the area where you want to add the file, select Add New > File. This will take you to a form that asks for a Title, Description, and a File.
- Under File, click Browse... and find the file you want to link to on your computer. Make sure the file to be uploaded has no capitalization or punctuation, and uses dashes between words.
- Once you've found it, click Open, and then add a title, and description.
- In the Title section, give your file a proper title, and include the file extension at the end (PDF, PPT, DOCX, ect.).
- Provide a Summary. This is required to meet accessibility standards for screen reader software, and it also allows your content to be found by search engines like Google.
- Next, click the Settings tab. Put a check mark in the box next to Exclude from navigation.
- Click the Save button. You will see the message Changes saved.
Finally, you will need to add a link to your pdf.
